Counseling Office

Heights' School Counselors follow their students throughout their middle school career. School Counselors work to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students.

As vital members of the school leadership team, School Counselors create a school culture of success for all. Counselors assist students with scheduling needs, career planning, problem solving, emotional and social skill building, testing, facilitating student support groups and a wide variety of other student services.

Additional support is available through our School Social Worker. School Social Workers are trained mental health professionals who can assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, positive behavioral support, academic, and classroom support, consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators as well as provide individual and group counseling/therapy.

Grades

Grading Period Dates

Grading period calculations for each semester are cumulative, so grades from GP1 are still being calculated into GP2 and GP3. Semester 1 and Semester 2 grades are the official grades reported on the middle school transcript.

Semester 1

GP1: Ends September 27, 2024
GP2: Ends November 18, 2024
GP3 and Semester 1: Ends December 20, 2023

Semester 2

GP4: Ends February 13, 2025
GP5: Ends April 11, 2025
GP6 and Semester 2: Ends May 28, 2025

Parent-Teacher Conferences

These meetings help you understand what your child is learning at school, their progress both academically and social-emotionally, and what you can do to support them. If your child is having particular difficulties, parent-teacher conferences also give you and the teacher time to plan how you can both help them best. Additional instructions regarding signing up for conferences will be updated at a later date.

Report Cards

Report Cards will be on the portal generally 2-3 days after the completion of the grading period.

Canvas Access for parents/guardians

The best way to track your child's progress throughout the school year is to download the Canvas Parent app. The following videos will walk you through the process of obtaining an access code from your child's Canvas app and setting up your account.

What is PowerSchool?

How do I get a PowerSchool account?

If you have not had a PowerSchool log-on before, you will need to bring a photo ID to Heights to establish your account. You will be given an access ID and password. You will use these codes to create your own personalized log in.

Each parent/guardians MUST create a new account. On the bottom of the login screen, select “create account.” During the set up, you will be asked for your student’s access ID and access Password. This feature allows you to have your own user id that you create and allows you to link all of your students with one sign on. For more detailed instructions, click here.

Free and Reduced Meals

The meal waiver that was in effect for the 2021-2022 school year that allows all students to eat free breakfast and lunch has been discontinued. For 2022-2023, students will have to pay for their meals or apply for free/reduced meals through the application process. Please complete the form on the left to ensure a seamless process. Parents will should reapply in July.
